- Link added at the top for Mission/Vision and Long Range Goals
- Capital Budget
- Capital Purchases over last 4 years (see attached PDF) - changing emphasis from supporting tech labs to supporting iTrolleys and teachers.
Budget Summary.pdf
- Purchases and goals specific to last year - Evaluation/Assessment is needed by early childhood group. Rhonda and Jon will facilitate this.
- Proposed purchases for next few months - Information Technology (IT) committee meeting will be called to discuss whether to support latops or classroom computers or tech labs.
- We obviously need a long range budget plan. This needs to be completed before the end of December to present to the Board. Rhonda will call an IT meeting to get input from faculty. Then the tech group will determine recommendations for a long range budget plan.
- Sonny's report: (as of Oct 24 11:00)
APAC Hospitality iBooks (reported last week)
- APAC coaches will be in MS/HS Conference Room Oct 25-28. They will have 4 loaner iBooks for the first two days, and one of the iTrolleys over the weekend.
Maternity Leave (reported last week)
- Eva Sebastien goes on maternity leave after Friday. Eva will leave her iBook for sub teacher Geraldo Constantini, and she won't need a computer to take home. I will start email forwarding Friday.
New ELAC Receptionist (reported last week)
- Yuko Morita starts work Nov 5 in ES Office. New iMac is ready and will be set up by Friday. Email account is ready. She will be added to other network services e.g. Intranet login, request forms, LDAP address book, etc. after Steve returns.
Library student computers (update)
- Problems we had last two weeks (web pages displayed unreadably etc.) seem to have been solved by restarting the Library server last Thursday. With a greater number of student computers in the Library, we may need a faster server here. It is a G4 Quicksilver tower.
Intranet froze, restarted
- CA Intranet was down for a while last Thursday night. CourseForum froze on Intranet8 and needed force-reset and restarting. No page data was lost. Next day, Rhonda made sure course administrators delete old pages and compress databases.
PE area printer
- Removed PE Office HP (4100) printer, after careful observation and considerations and discussions with PE teachers. All PE staff now print to S110 ESOL HP (4050) printer. The old PE printer is in storage as a backup unit. The PE printer was slightly less reliable (due to dirt and dust?) but most of the frequent problems PE teachers experienced were due to incorrect settings and inappropriate use of their computers.
Tech 3 printer fuser problem (update)
- Tech 3 HP 4350 has a mechanical failure in the fuser unit last week. Bob Simon helped to discover HP had recalled this defective fuser. Will contact HP this week for free repair or replacement. In the meantime, Tech 3 has new HP 4250 as a temporary replacement.
New HP 4250 arrived
- Once Tech 3's 4350 gets fixed, we need to identify a printer to upgrade/replace, or is there an area that should get a new printer? These are the older printers still in use: ELEM 2fl HP (4100n), Elem ESOL HP (4100n), Faculty Lounge HP (4100n), Accounting HP (4100n), Business Office HP (4050n), Reception Office HP (4100n), Health Office HP (4050n), Elem Office Printer (4050n), ESOL HP (testing) (4050n).
Free eMacs redeployed
- All 3 free eMacs have been placed: 2 in Elementary, 1 in N400A (Ed Spadafora), which did not have a reliable classroom computer.
Memory orders?
- eMacs in tech labs have only 256 or 512 MB RAM. Need more to play videos and edit movies. Do we want to order some? All eMacs up to 1 GHz use PC-100/133 DIMMs; 1.25 and 1.42 GHz models use PC-2100/2700.
- Administrators who received early MacBooks before teachers got theirs with 1 GB RAM only. Maybe they should all have 2 GB as teachers do.
Apple repairs
- Battery died on Megumi Takahashi's MacBook EQ2949. Contacted Apple and received a free replacement.
